Serving South Bend From Our Wakarusa Yard
Wakarusa Heavy Equipment is 24 miles from downtown South Bend, an easy run out US-20 and down IN-19. We rent compact track loaders, skid steers, mini and full-size excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, rollers, telehandlers, boom and scissor lifts, and articulated haul trucks, and every machine in the fleet is maintained in our own shop by the technicians who service the machines we sell.
Because of the distance, most South Bend rentals go out on our truck. Give us the address and the day, and we will deliver, walk your operator through the controls if needed, and pick up when the job is done. For a one-day mini excavator or skid steer rental, plenty of South Bend customers still make the drive and tow it home behind a three-quarter-ton pickup. Either way you are dealing with a family-owned yard rather than a national rental counter.
Built for South Bend Work
From Downtown Redevelopment to Older Neighborhoods
South Bend has been rebuilding itself for years, and the work shows it: downtown and riverfront projects, the technology and industrial parks on the south side, campus-area construction near Notre Dame, and commercial build-outs along the US-31 and Grape Road corridors. That kind of work needs boom and scissor lifts for framing and finish, telehandlers for material, and track loaders, haul trucks and compactors for site work, and we keep all of it ready to deliver.
The city's older housing stock drives a different kind of rental. Sewer and water laterals, foundation and waterproofing digs, garage and porch demolition, and tight-lot grading are everyday work for our mini excavators, and the sandy and clay soils along the St. Joseph River mean plenty of drainage and retaining wall jobs. South Bend homeowners rent the same machines the contractors do, and we walk you through the controls at delivery if it is your first time.

Customer Testimonials
"I usually work on my own equipment. My Takeuchi Skid Steer had a few issues that had compiled, and eventually it developed a no crank no start issue. Me and my buddies spent days trying to figure it out. I finally dropped it off to Wakarusa, and they figured it out way quicker than I expected, way more things than I even realized were bad, and for an incredibly reasonable rate. These guys are quick and I will certainly be back! I may even take stuff to them before I try to fix it myself next time."
